Location: Baltimore is located on the S coast of Ireland, approx 60nm SW of Cork. General overview: Baltimore is a natural harbour protected by some of Carberry's 100 isles, the nearest of which is Sherkin Island which is inhabited. The harbour is approx 10nm ENE of the Fastnet Rock and between it and Baltimore is the island of Cape Clear, also inhabited. There are regular ferries to both islands and a lifeboat is based in the harbour. The principal exports are fish and agricultural products; imports include coal, cement, timber and salt. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Draught 5.18m, 1,000DWT.
