Location: Akita is situated at the estuary of Omonogawa (Omono River), on the NW coast of the island of Honshu, facing the Sea of Japan.
General overview: The Port of Akita (formerly known as Port of Tsuchizaki) is an international container liner service is in operation.
It consists of 17 berths for handling a variety of cargoes such as logs, zinc concentrates, cement, phosphate rock and petroleum products.
Traffic figures: Approx. 3,600 vessels and 9,704,000t of cargo handled annually.
