Location: Andoany port (Hellville) is situated on Nosy Be Island, off the NW coast of Madagascar. General overview: A commercial port with limited facilities, mainly engaged in coastal cargo and ferry services and the fishing industry. Ocean going vessels normally work cargo at anchor in the roads. A port of call for Indian and Arabian dhows in the NW monsoon season and also for cruise liners, which have to tender passengers ashore. Exports: Sugar, coffee, vanilla and perfume oils. Imports: Petroleum products and general/container cargoes. Traffic figures: Approx 60 vessels, 46,000t of hydrocarbons, 5,000t of cocoa, 3,000t of coffee, 7,000t of sugar and 14,000t of containers handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical.
