Location: The Port of Tromsø is situated in Tromsø municipality in Troms og Finnmark county.
General overview: The Port of Tromsø is a prominent hub for offshore oil operations in the Barent Sea, Arctic cruises, international fishing fleets and general cargo vessels. The port remains ice-free throughout the year, owing to the Gulf Stream.
The port is split into two areas - Breivika and Prostneset, with a total of 2,000 meters of quayage and depths ranging from 4.0-11.5m.
- Prostneset specializes in general cargo and passenger handling, with five cargo berths
- Breivika handles general cargo, passengers, and containers.
Esso Norge AS, Shell and StatOil operate the tanker facilities.
The primary exports from the port are fish products, herring oil and meal, seal skins, and general cargo, while the primary imports include vehicles, oil, and feeding stuffs.
