General Description
Location: Brest is located on the NW coast of France at the W entrance to the English Channel, approx 550km from Paris.
General overview: The port has extensive cargo handling and ship repair facilities including 21 commercial quays (total length 4,104m), 3 dry docks and 2 repair quays. The main cargoes handled by the port are cement, cereals, timber, containers, freezer and general cargoes.

-Dock No. 1: quay: West; length: 200 m; depth: 6.0 m; facilities: Cruise, other goods. Mobile crane, 4 tons at 22 m.
-Dock No. 2: quay: West; length: 110 m; depth: 5.0 m; facilities: Fishing. Mobile crane, 4 tons at 22 m.
-Dock No. 3: quay: Eperon; length: 140 m; depth: 9.0 m; facilities: Refrigerated goods, other goods. 2x7.5 tons at 30 m. (10 tons at 22 m.).
-Dock No. 5: quay: West; length: 170 m; depth: 7.0; facilities: Refrigerated goods, other goods. 2 cranes, 6 tons at 22 m.

-Bulk Terminal: Two unloading berths; six cranes; seven warehouses for horizontal storage, three of which are linked to the berths by conveyor belts; eight vertical silos linked to the berths by conveyor belts; one loading/unloading station, rail/road. Two vessels can be discharged simultaneously, to store more than 100,000 tonnes of goods and to load/unload 9,000 tonnes per day.
-Multimodal Terminal: Quay length 600 m., with one Ro-Ro linkspan and two mobile cranes for container handling.
-Refrigerated Terminal: Four quays with six cranes; 200 electric sockets for refrigerated containers;
Traffic figures: Approx 2,815,800t of cargo, 740 vessels and 27,000 passengers handled annually.
