General Description
Location: Greenore is a deep water port situated, 20km E of Dundalk, on the S entrance to Carlingford Lough. General overview: The privately owned harbour consists of a single quay, facing NW, protected by a detached breakwater lying parallel to the quay approx 105m NW of it. The port currently handles all types of traffic, both container and bulk. The main imports are animal feed, fuel oil, steel, fruit, wood products, coal, timber, fertiliser and chemicals while exports consist mainly of fish cages, milk powder, live cattle, wood pulp and frozen meats. The water depth at HW is 9.1m and at LW is 4.9m. Traffic figures: Approx 700,000t of cargo, 20,000TEU and 193 vessels handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 185m, beam 32m, max arrival draught 6.5m, 42,000DWT. The largest single cargo discharged at the port is 11,880t of animal feed.
