General Description
Location: The Port of Kota Kinabalu is situated on the South China Sea and is the capital city of Sabah State.
General overview: The Port of Kota Kinabalu has 12 berths accommodating vessels up to 16,000DWT and a ferry terminal.
The port used to handle a variety of cargo, but today, Sapangar Port has taken over the major port role.
Kota Kinabalu Port now only handles non-containerized cargo such as general cargo and dry bulk. The main exports are sawn timber and rubber, and the main imports are machinery, construction materials, vehicles, and grain.

Containers and tankers are handled at Sapangar Bay Container Terminal (SBSB) and Sapangar Bay Oil Terminal (SBOT), respectively. (See Separate Entry)

There port developed Jesselton Quay, a new attraction for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
