Location: Puerto Bolivar is on the southernmost part of Ecuador's coastline, in the Estero Santa Rosa.
General overview: Puerto Bolivar is one of the safest harbours in Ecuador; the anchorage can accommodate up to 10 vessels simultaneously. Banana vessels are berthed on a 'first come first served' basis.
Principal Commodities handled: Imports, fertiliser.
Exports: bananas.
Traffic figures: Approx 550 vessels visit the port and 1,775,000t of cargo, 48,000TEU handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
