Location: Taganrog stands on the level headland of Mys Taganrog on the Sea of Azov, 60km W of Rostov. General overview: Taganrogskiy port consists of an artificial harbour in the SE side of the town and the roadstead Bol'shoy Taganrog Reyd. The harbour consists of an outer basin, protected by 3 curved moles, which leads into 2 inner basins, depths 3.0-4.0m. The port is open all year. The main export cargoes handled include lumber, iron, steel and coal. Imports include citrus fruit, flour, alcohol, tobacco products and building materials. Container transhipments are becoming more widespread. Traffic figures: Approx 2,867,400t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Dec 1 to Feb 28/29, Summer Mar 1 to Nov 30. Max size: LOA 155m, draught 4.7m (deeper draughts possible by arrangement).
