General Description

Location: Ystad is a Baltic port situated approx 50nm E of Trelleborg. General overview: The port is a medium sized harbour with good facilities for handling dry bulk and general cargoes; including coal, wood (chips), grain, limestone, sugar and lumber. Facilities for cruise ships, also train and vehicle ferries operate to Poland and the Danish island of Bornholm. Exports: Grain and timber. Imports: Oil, fertilisers and coke. Traffic figures: Approx 3,000 vessels, 2,000,000t of cargo and 240,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 150m, draught 6.7m.
