Location: Boulogne-sur-Mer is located on the NW coast of France close to the Dover Strait. It lies at the mouth of the Liane River in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of northern France just 45 kilometers south of Folkestone, England, across the English Channel and about 210 kilometers N of Paris. General overview: The port has facilities for the handling of fishing vessels, car ferries, fast catamaran ferries, cargo ships and pleasure craft. These vessels are accommodated in 2 basins and 2 docks in the well sheltered harbour. Port consists of fore port and tidal port, two dock basins, one of which is enclosed, and the Sarraz-Bournet Dock. Cargoes include general cargo, dry bulk, fish, Ro-Ro and Lo-Lo traffic.
