General Description
Location: The Port of Kagoshima is situated in Kagoshima Bay, the southernmost part of the island of Kyushu.
General overview: The Port of Kagoshima comprises of seven harbour areas: Honko-Ku, Shinko-Ku, Kamoikeko-Ku, Chuoko-Ku (Mokuzaiko, Minamiko and Marine Port Kagoshima), Taniyama-Ikku, Taniyama-Niku and Hama-Hirakawako-Ku.
an important distribution centre and port of call for vessels trading with the islands of Nansei Shoto and ports in SE Asia. In addition, the port is also a calling point for ferries and cruise ships. The port consists of 7 sections, namely Kitafuto, Shinko-ku, Kamoikeko-ku, Chuo-ku, Mokuzaiko-ku, Tamiyama No 1 and No 2 districts.
It is a versatile port which handles a wide range of maritime operations including passenger ferries, cruise ships, dry bulk cargo, oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and general cargo.
The port's location in Kagoshima Bay provides easy access to the Pacific Ocean and the East China Sea, making it a strategic spot for shipping and trade
