Location: The Port of Naha is situated within the Ryukyu islands, occupying a strategic location between Japan and Taiwan.
General overview: The Port of Naha is an important hub located on Okinawa Island, consisting of four main areas: Naha Terminal, Tomari Terminal, Shinko Terminal, and Urasoe Terminal. This port is equipped to handle a variety of different types of commodities, including container goods, passenger ferries, Ro-Ro vessels, and agricultural and fishery products. The port does not have any oil facilities.
Shinko Terminal is a major player in the international container trade and offers international ferries to Taiwan and domestic ferries to cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe. The terminal covers a terminal area of 21 hectares and boasts two 300 meter berths with a depth of 15 meters.
Naha Terminal is used for ferry services linking the Okinawa mainland to cities such as Kagoshima, Hakata, and isolated islands like Miyako and Ishigaki. It also serves as a destination for freight carriers traveling to East Asia.
Tomari Terminal caters to liner vessels between neighboring islands and smaller boats.
Urasoe Terminal is designated for tramp general cargo and cement vessels.
