General Description

Location: The Port of Niihama is situated on the northern coast of Shikoku in the Inland Sea. General overview: The Port of Niihama is divided into four distinct areas, numbered 1 through 4. The port provides excellent sheltered anchorage and features both private and public wharves. The types of commodities handled at the port include coal, timber, and general cargo The Port of Niihama consists of several wharves, each with different berthing capacities and water depths: Xinjubin Wharf has 14 berths, with only berth 8 in the outer section and berth 4 in the inner section open to the public. Berth 4 is 7.5 meters deep and can berth 5000-ton ships. There is also a mooring buoy near the north shore of berth 8 that can be used to tie 10000 DWT vessels. Biezi wharf has three berths, with only Berth 3 in the north open to the outside world. Berth 3 has a water depth of 9.3 meters and can reliably berth 10000 DWT. Dajiang wharf has six berths, with only Berth 4 open to foreign vessels. Berth 4 can reliably berth 5000 DWT vessels. Juben wharf has five berths, with only berth 4 on the left side of the entrance open to the public. Berth 4 has a water depth of 9.5 meters and can reliably berth 10000 ton ships. The wharf also has anchorages in the outer basin that can reliably berth 10000 DWT vessels. Outside the port, there is No. 6 berth in the north of the terminal. This berth is 200 meters long and 14.1 meters deep, and can reliably berth 50000-ton ships. The terminal is equipped with two 25-ton loaders for loading and unloading foreign ships. The port handles a variety of commodities including petroleum, coal, bauxite, copper nickel concentrate sand, timber, chemical fertilizer, and nonferrous metals.
