General Description
Location: Vancouver is located on the Washington side of the Columbia River, 105nm above the entrance and 7nm N of Portland. General overview: The port of Vancouver has 4 terminals and 13 shipping berths handling much of the grain produced in the State of Washington and Oregon. In addition, bauxite, paper products, petroleum products, fertilisers, steel, chemicals, wood products, aluminium, copper concentrate, bentonite clay, metal scrap, woodpulp, project cargo and general cargo handled. The port also has the capability to handle containerised and Ro-Ro cargo. The port is served by two major railroads and over 60 trucking lines. Traffic figures: Approx 5,200,000t of cargo, 2,200,000TEU and 526 vessels handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Largest vessel handled: "Panamax", draught 12.2m, 60,000DWT.
