General Description
Location: Vyborg port is situated in the Gulf of Vyborg, approx 40km from the Finnish border.
General overview: The port, operated by OMG Ports, consists of a S harbour, the main commercial area and the N harbour which is used by smaller vessels. It has extensive connections by road, rail, sea and river with the entire Russian transportation network and is navigable all year round with icebreaker assistance.
The main exports are timber, butter, wood pulp, granite, matches and copper ore; imports include sugar, coffee, salt, grain, herrings and tallow. Traffic figures: Approx 3000 vessels and 1,103,600t of cargo handled annually.
Load line zone: Summer Zone for vessels over 100m in length and Winter Zone for vessels of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
