General Description
Location: The Port of Ventspils is situated at the mouth of the Venta River, eastern Baltic Sea. Located in Courland region.
General overview: The Port of Ventspils is situated on the Baltic coast of Latvia and is ice-free all year round. The water level is mostly affected by wind, and regular dredging is carried out to mitigate the effects of sand movement caused by strong gales.
The port comprises an outer harbor with oil terminals and a commercial harbor along the river banks, with a total of 15 cargo terminals. The available cargo berths have a length of 5,767m, of which 3,205m is for dry cargo and 2,562m is for oil and chemical berths.
The port handles a variety of cargoes, including crude oil, oil products, liquefied chemicals, fertilizers, metals, forest and fish products, coal, containers, and Ro-Ro cargoes.
