Location: Ust-Luga is situated on both sides of Reka Luga, on the NW coast of Russia, approx 130km SW of St Petersburg. The new deep water port, built mainly on reclaimed land is 7km to the east of the river berths. General overview: The old port of Ust-Luga is situated on both sides of the river, the farthest berth from the sea being a sawmill approx 2nm upstream. The new multipurpose port consists of six terminals, with water depth at the new berths expected to be 16.0m, making it the most modern deep water Russian port on the Baltic Sea. Located on approx 900ha, the port will be able to handle dry bulk cargo, tankers, LPG carriers, Ro-Ro and container vessels. The final completed capacity is expected to be up to 120,000,000t of various cargoes annually. Traffic figures: Approx 1,000 vessels and 22,693,000t of cargo handled annually.
