General Description
Location : The Port of Klang (also known as Kelang) is situated on the west coast of the Malaysian Peninsula.
General overview: The Port of Klang is the 12th busiest transshipment and container port in the world. It is well-sheltered by surrounding islands and has two major gateways called North Port (including South Point) and Westport, with a total of 48 berths.
The port handles almost 50% of Malaysia's sea-borne container trade and has a free zone established in 2004 to transform it into a regional distribution hub and logistics center.

The port handles imports of steel, iron, fruit, grain, and machinery and exports timber, palm oils, manufactured goods in containers, automobiles, and rubber.
It also has facilities for loading and discharging bulk liquid cargoes, including latex, palm oil, coconut oil, petroleum products, and fuel oils.

IMO Class 1:
- Transhipment of IMO 1 cargo is NOT allowed.
- Below are the requirements for IMO Class 1 operations:
1) Must obtain approval from Port Authority for vessel to come alongside berth.
2) Only allowed operations during day light hours.
3) Cargo must be delivered/received direct under gantry, no storage in the port is allowed for IMO Class 1 cargo.
4) Full fire brigade will standby at berth once vessel is alongside to upon departure of vessel, charges per hour @ USD 55 / hour.
5) Shipper/Consignee will need to obtain various permits from authorities prior delivery to/from port.
6) IMO class 1 cargo cannot be shifted and/or re-handled onboard or landed ashore.
7) Bunkering is not allowed at berth, bunkering can be carried at designated anchorage either before or after berthing.
8) No hot works allowed at berth.
- Transit IMO class 1 cargo is allowed however, some restrictions as below:
a) Must obtain approval from Port Authority for vessel to come alongside berth.
b) Full fire brigade will standby at berth once vessel is alongside to departure from berth, charges per hour @ USD 55 / hour.
c) Cargo cannot be shifted and/or re-handled onboard or landed ashore.
