General Description
Location: Stade is situated on the River Schwinge, which flows into the lower Elbe near Stadersand.
General overview: Thanks to its reinforced port area, which is safe from flooding and permits tide-independent access for ocean-going vessels, the Port of Stade facilitates the handling and storage of bulk and general cargo. Small dry cargo quayage available. The quay is 366 meters long and can accommodate ships of up to 1000 tons.
The Port of Stade handles coal and other bulk commodities, along with fertilizers and construction materials such as gravel, sand, and clay. Its dock can accommodate ships up to 200 meters long. The main imports are coal, timber, building materials, fertilisers and grain. Exports include salt.
Traffic figures: Approx. 5,600,000 tonnes of the cargo are handled and 1,300 vessels call at the port annually.
Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
Max size: Approx 1,000GT. Vessels up to 3.5m draught at average HW, 1.6m average LW.
