General Description
Location: The port of Svendborg is located on the S coast of the island of Fyn.
General overview: Svendborg harbour, which is formed by a bend in the Sound and Frederikso Island, is divided into 3 basins and used by general, bulk and ferry vessels.
The port is open throughout the winter, with the Sound being seldom closed by ice. Exports of grain and imports of cereals, coal, coke, feeding stuffs, fertilisers, steel and timber are handled.
Traffic figures: Approx 170,000t of cargo and 310,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
